Tips for keeping your dog calm around fireworks
The RSPCA has shared advice for all dog owners who are worried about the impact of fireworks on their pet.
Some animals can be left highly distressed due to the flashes and loud bangs during this time of year and the charity has spoken to local councils and provided toolkits to minimise disruption.
They are also introducing an online reporting scheme to map incidents to help gain a better understanding of how they can help in the future.
RSPCA campaigns manager Carrie Stones said: “We know that some councils have announced cancellations already this year so we do have concerns that people may hold events in their own gardens.

“Whilst we can prepare our animals for one night of disruption it’s difficult when bonfire night now tends to last for days or weeks either side.
The Kennel Club advise to never take a dog to a firework display even if they don't appear to show any signs of stress as excessive yawning or panting could signal they are distressed.
They also say that your vet could suggest medication to help keep them calm, you can also try distracting them with the noise from the TV or a radio.
RSPCA Animal welfare expert Dr Mark Kennedy said: “Firework phobia is treatable and we recommend seeking advice from your vet if your pet is anxious during fireworks season. If necessary, your vet will be able to refer you to a professional clinical animal behaviourist.
